Long before Pacific Coast Highway existed, Malibu’s region was home to the Chumash people. It was remote and secluded until 1929 when the Pacific Coast Highway was built. Incorporated in 1991, the City of Malibu is a small community of about 13,000 residents, known for its Mediterranean climate and its breathtaking 21-mile strip of the Southern California coast.
